The third and final chapter of Antoine Fuqua's Equalizer franchise, starring Denzel Washington. Robert McCall finds refuge in the sun-drenched south of Italy — until the local Camorra threatens the community he has come to call home.
A Sony Pictures release, the film was a major international production with significant VFX requirements across its action sequences — and an opportunity to send off the franchise with genuine visual impact.
Future Associate delivered over 150 VFX shots — a significant body of work spanning the film's most visceral sequences. The opening wine cellar scene set the tone: bullet wounds, blood, gore, and wine spray built shot by shot, with wine streams animated in Houdini using velocity bursts and Flip simulations.
The van crash sequence was rebuilt entirely in CGI — digital doubles of both environment and actor created from on-set scans, with cracked glass, hood smoke, and blood composited throughout. Elsewhere, skylight stunt sequences required CGI face replacements, with on-set scan data used as texture base and refined through spline warping and colour grading.
